Immersions

Mary MacKillop College staff and students journey on sacred, spiritual, and cultural immersions in alternate years.

In 2023 staff and students journeyed to the Tiwi Islands during the first week of the September school holidays. The Immersion broadened knowledge and understanding of our First Nations people and the rich culture of the Tiwi Community. By contributing to local art projects, participating in local school classes, and experiencing the lives of others we came home with a different outlook on life.

"Their inclusive community has made me want to apply this to how I live and work when arriving back home."

- Trinity, Year 11

"I loved the experience of the AFL game. Although none of these girls knew my name or who I was, their encouragement and positive outlook made me feel like I was welcome."

- Larni, Year 10

"Over the trip Sister Anne has become my biggest role model. Through her wisdom and generosity she has inspired me to be more welcoming when it comes to meeting new people."

- Willow, Year 11
